Hi, Brady, I’m Lana, your guide to the LeanScaper Operating System. What can I help you with today?
I need my crews to get out of the yard 30 minutes earlier every morning.
You probably do not get 30 minutes back by telling people to move faster. You get it by removing work from the morning.
From your existing Morning Rollout SOP and Loading Trucks every morning, the play is pretty clear:
Shift prep to the day before
Fuel, restock, stage materials, preload core tools, flag repairs, confirm first stop.
Make the yard a launch point, not a planning meeting
Crews should arrive and go straight to assigned trucks. No wandering, no side conversations, no solving tomorrow in the morning.
Cap the yard process
Aim for:
- 0 to 5 min, attendance and truck assignment
- 5 to 12 min, circle check and load verification
- 12 to 15 min, roll out
Move the real huddle to the first job
Keep the yard huddle to safety-critical exceptions only. The fuller crew huddle is usually better on site, where the work is real and visible.
Track one reason for every late departure
Use only 5 codes:
- late crew
- missing material
- truck/equipment issue
- unclear plan
- yard congestion
If you do just three things this week, do these:
- enforce night-before reset
- require crews to go straight to trucks
- record the cause of every late rollout for 10 days
That will tell us whether the 30 minutes is sitting in loading, planning, people, or yard flow.
If you want, I can turn this into a hard 15-minute morning rollout standard for all four divisions.
Review answers: even Lana makes mistakes.
